Faith Kipyegon ,Gudaf Tsegay to meet again in the1500m final

The world 1500 meters record holder, Faith Kipyegon, has secured a spot in the finals of her signature race, setting the stage for another showdown with Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay, following their clash in the 5000m finals earlier this week.

Kipyegon dominated the semi-finals, winning Heat 1 with a time of 3:58.64 on Thursday night. In contrast, Tsegay finished fourth in the second heat, which was won by her compatriot Diribe Welteji.

Great Britain’s Georgia Bell claimed second place in Heat 1 with a time of 3:59.49, while Purrier St. Pierre from the USA clocked 3:59.74 to take third place.

Unfortunately, Kipyegon’s compatriot, Nelly Chepchirchir, was unable to keep up with the intense pace, finishing 11th with a time of 4:03.24, thus missing out on the final.

Kipyegon will be joined in the final by debutant Susan Ejore, who ran a personal best time of 3:56.57 to secure fifth place in Heat 2, earning one of the six automatic qualification slots.

As Kipyegon aims for her third consecutive Olympic gold medal in the 1500 meters, all eyes will be on the 30-year-old, who has firmly established herself as the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) in the event, thanks to her unparalleled success at the World Championships, the Olympics, and her world record feats.
