The family of  Luo Jinli the 45-year-old woman of Chinese origin who was stabbed to death in 2016 by a fellow Chinese tour guide at the  Keekorok Lodge in Maasai Mara has been awarded KSh 457 million in compensation for her death by a Narok Court.

Jinli’s family sued the lodge stating that their daughter met her untimely demise on the account of their negligence.

The incident happened over dinner where reports indicate that The tour guide had argued with Jinli and her husband about the occupancy of a dining table with the guide insisting that he usually sat at that table.

He then brought out a knife which he used to attack the couple.

Jinli was stabbed twice in her chest and ribs succumbed to the injuries as she was being rushed to a nearby health centre.

The husband survived with injuries.

More than 100 tourists, who were having dinner and witnessed the incident, scampered for safety, screaming as they rushed out of the dining hall.

In their defense, Keekorok Lodge Maasai Mara said that there were adequate security measures at all times and despite having the opportunity to do so the visitors failed to report the initial incident.
