Family seeks justice after kin loses life at hands of Del Monte Limited guards

A family in Kangangu, Maragua sub-county, Murang’a County, is demanding justice after their kin lost his life in the hands of Del Monte Limited security guards a fortnight ago.

According to the deceased’s mother, her son – Peter Mutuku – was found murdered, and his body, which had injuries on the head and body from suspected beatings, was dumped in the dams of the American fruit processor.

“I am saddened by this. I request the American government to intervene because many youth have been killed, even my son has been killed. I am in a lot of pain,” Hannah Wanjiru cried out.

According to the deceased’s father, Samuel Mutisya, the gruesome murders are rampant on the farm, issuing the same call for government intervention, just as his wife.

Mutisya counts himself lucky to have found his son’s body, as most of those murdered on the Del Monte farm are tied to stones and the bodies thrown into the water, never to be seen again.

“Our children are usually injured and thrown into the water. My son’s eye had been removed while the other had fallen deeper inside. Blood was oozing from the nose and the rear side of the head. We, as parents, demand justice,” he said.
