Argentine football star Lionel Messi made a return to the MSL on Wednesday night for his club Inter Maimi.
However, the World Cup winner did not finish the 90 minutes on the pitch.
Messi only played for 37 minutes in the inter-Miami vs Toronto FC clash that saw the Miamians win 4-0 DRV PNK Stadium.
Nonetheless, the seven-time Ballon D’or winner displayed signs of discomfort as he stretched his right leg near the midfield area.
This occurred shortly after he made a run towards the net, veering wide without taking a shot, before eventually leaving the match.
Inter Miami coach Tata Martino revealed that Messi underwent an injury evaluation during his time with the Argentina national team.
However, the scans conducted did not reveal any signs of an injury.
“He had an old injury that had been bothering him. The scans he had with the national team, didn’t show any injury. We still saved him to be safe,” Martino said of Messi after the match Wednesday.
In the World Cup qualifying matches for Argentina this month, Messi has been dealing with either a right leg injury or fatigue.
The Inter Miami Legend had indicated that he “felt something” after the Argentina versus Ecuador fixture.
Consequently, keeping him off the Squad that played Bolivia in the next match as a precautionary measure.
“I was a little tired, so it happened that I went out and surely it won’t be the last time I go out during matches,” Messi said after coming off against Ecuador.

The Argentine foward is considered a day-to-day pick for the Club, however, he could be left out during the Orlando fixture this Sunday.
Inter Miami now have its focus set on the U.S. Open Cup final against the Houston Dynamo FC on Sept. 27.
The Inter Maimi coach hopes that it is just fatigue and that Messi will be available for the Finals.
