A series of recent chilling murders and robberies has plunged Kisiara Ward in Kericho County into fear, with residents calling for urgent action to restore security in the area.
The latest incident involved the brutal killing of a 21-year-old woman whose lifeless body was discovered along the Roret-Ngoina Road, sparking outrage and concern.
Gilbert Kiprop, the area Member of County Assembly (MCA), expressed deep concern over the deteriorating security situation during his visit to the crime scene. Kiprop described the murder as the most recent in a string of alarming events that have shaken the ward.
“This is not the first incident, and it’s very worrying,” Kiprop said. “Recently, two security guards were murdered at Roret Coffee Mill during a robbery, and power cables were stolen from Kisiara Pending Dairy Mill. Now, we are dealing with the death of a young girl. The frequency of these crimes is alarming.”
The MCA called on law enforcement agencies to intensify patrols in the area to deter criminals and ensure the safety of residents. “The security team must act swiftly and decisively. We need patrols and increased vigilance to stop these tragedies,” Kiprop urged.
Kiprop also called on residents to cooperate with security forces, emphasizing the need for community policing and vigilance. “We must work together with the police by sharing information and reporting suspicious activities to bring an end to this wave of violence,” he added.
The incidents have left Kisiara Ward residents living in fear, with many demanding urgent intervention from local and county authorities. The spate of killings and thefts has cast a shadow over the community, leaving a once-peaceful area grappling with insecurity.
