A 28-year-old female nurse was on Saturday March 9, 2024 afternoon found dead in a toilet at a clinic in Embu Town where she had gone to see her counselor for a therapy session.
The nurse who until her demise was working at Kiritiri Level 4 Hospital in Mbeere South Sub-county is suspected to have died of overdose of prescription painkillers according to her therapist Liza Gota.
Ms. Gota who is a Counselor said the nurse was her client and was coming for a counseling session since she had marital problems.
She said the nurse called her at around 2.40 pm upon arriving at her clinic but she was not seen at the waiting desk as expected.

The psychologist added that by the time she arrived at around 3.20 pm, she found her lying dead in the toilet and beside her were some drugs she had injected herself with.
The counsellor however refuted claims that she committed suicide.
“She has been abusing a medical drug, a very strong painkiller and over time she got addicted to it since she had a back problem besides marital issues,” the counselor said.
She also called on doctors to sensitize members of the public on medical drugs addiction and the resultant dangers.

The therapist at the same time called on couples having marital problems to try and sort them amicably or seek help from counselors.
Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Embu Branch Chair Mugo Mate who was at the scene called on the church and the community to help mentor young couples solve marital challenges.
The body was taken to Embu Level Five Hospital mortuary for autopsy as police launched investigations into the death.
