Final Stride: The Burial of Marathon Legend Kelvin Kiptum

The burial of World Marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum will happen today at his native home in Uasin Gishu, Kiptum died on February 11th at the age of 24-year-old.

He died alongside his Rwandese coach Gervais Hakizimana who was buried on Wednesday 21st February.

The two died in a tragic road accident that sent shockwaves across the globe, especially as he was in the midst of preparations for the Rotterdam marathon and the upcoming Olympics.

Kenya has been robbed off a Marathon legend in the making, the obvious heir to Eliud Kipchoge who is the Greatest Of All Time Marathonner.

Eldoret which is the city of champions came to a standstill as the hearse carrying Kiptum’s remains made its way through the town as fans took time to bid farewell to the Kenyan gem.

President William Ruto leads the country in mourning Kelvin Kiptum.

“Kelvin Kiptum was undeniably one of the finest sportsmen the world has ever seen, breaking barriers and setting records that will be remembered for generations to come,” remarked President Ruto.

In his short stint, Kelvin Kiptum conquered prestigious marathons such as Valencia, Chicago, and London.
