A fire incident on Monday left seven staff quarters at Lang’ata Womens Prison, Nairobi damaged.
Humanitarian organization Kenya Red Cross broke the news on Monday evening, saying an emergency team was deployed to quell the fire.
“Efforts to extinguish the fire are currently underway,” read part of their statement.
A few hours later, the organization announced that the emergency team, comprised of Red Cross staff members and Nairobi County emergency responders, successfully put out the fire
An investigation was launched to establish cause of the fire which extensively damaged seven staff quarters within the prison.
No one was reportedly harmed in the incident, although unknown value of property was destroyed.
