A huge fire broke out on Wednesday morning, completely destroying a furniture shop in Kasarani area along the Thika Superhighway.
The blaze which erupted mid-morning of August 28, 2024 consumed furniture of undetermined value, reducing several businesses to ashes.
Witnesses reported that as the blaze spread, residents quickly organized a rescue operation, even as the flames extended to nearby shops.
Videos obtained by TV47 showed a crowd gathering around the scene as the rescue efforts intensified.
Thick smoke was seen billowing from the burning building, prompting neighboring shop owners to rush and salvage their belongings.

The Kenya Red Cross swiftly dispatched officials to the site, who, with the help of residents, worked to extinguish the flames and provide first aid to the injured.
“A fire incident has been reported at Bed Palace along Thika Road. Response teams are en route to the scene,” mentioned the Kenya Red Cross Society.
The cause of the blaze remains unknown, and as of the time of this report, police had not arrived at the scene to begin investigations.
This is not the first time the shop has faced such a disaster.
On December 8, 2023, another fire incident was reported at the same location.
During the previous fire incident, which broke out at noon, property of unknown value were destroyed.
Firefighters from Nairobi Disaster Management were dispatched at that time to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further.
Police arrived hours later, cordoning off the area and initiating an investigation.
