Five dead after boda boda-car crash on Lodwar-Kitale Road

Five people died on Monday, June 17 evening after a fatal road accident at Aro area, on the Lodwar-Kitale Road.

The accident that occurred at around 6:30 pm involved a car (Volvo Station Wagon) and a boda boda.

A report filed at Lokichar Police Station in Turkana County says that the car was being driven from Kitale general direction heading towards Lodwar, with one male passenger on board.

Upon reaching the scene of the accident, the driver of the car swerved to the right lane to avoid hitting a dog that was crossing the road.

“He, however, still knocked down the dog and also had a head-on collision with a motorcycle which was coming from the opposite direction,” the report reads.

As a result of the impact, the boda boda rider, a female adult and three girls who were pillion passengers died on the spot.

“The driver and passenger from the Volvo escaped unhurt. Both the vehicle and motorcycle were extensively damaged.”

The bodies were removed to Lodwar County Referral Hospital mortuary pending autopsy.

The motor vehicle and motorcycle were towed to Lokichar Police Station.
