Five police officers and four teachers injured as police vehicle rolls severally in Mandera

Five police officers and four teachers were on Thursday, June 6 injured when a police vehicle they were travelling in was involved in an accident in Banisa, Mandera County.

The incident occurred at around 4:00 pm when the vehicle belonging to Border Police Unit (BPU) in Choroqo, was traveling from Banisa towards the Guba general direction.

According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle hit a pothole upon reaching Armamo area, as it navigated the treacherous roads, causing both the right front and rear tires to burst.

The vehicle hit on potholes before its tyres burst, causing it to veer off the road and roll several times.

As a result of the tyre bursts, the driver then lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road, rolled onto the left side, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

The passengers on board, which included five police officers from the Banisa Police Station and four school teachers, sustained injuries in the accident.

The injured passengers were quickly extracted from the wreckage of the car and rushed to the Banisa Sub-County Hospital for urgent medical attention.

The mangled motor vehicle has been towed to Banisa Police Station.

Authorities have launched investigations into the incident and is expected to provide a progress report in the coming days.
