FKF-PL: Tusker Beats Bandari to go Top, Police Grab Late Win Over Posta

Tusker FC defeated Bandari FC 1-0 to ascend to the top of the FKF Premier League standings, while Kenya Police FC clinched a thrilling 3-2 victory over Posta Rangers, thanks to Marvin Nabwire’s last-minute goal.

These rescheduled league matches took place at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Wednesday afternoon, January 15, 2025.

Originally scheduled for November, the matches were postponed due to Harambee Stars’ participation in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers against South Sudan.

Thomas Omole scored Tusker’s solitary goal in the 17th minute, securing their victory and allowing them to leapfrog KCB in the FKF-PL standings with 30 points, just three points ahead of second-placed KCB, who sit at 27 points.

This marked Tusker’s eighth win of the season and a much-needed recovery following their 2-1 loss to Shabana in their previous match. Bandari, meanwhile, extended their winless streak to four matches.

In the earlier fixture at the same venue, Kenya Police FC triumphed over Posta Rangers in a thrilling encounter. The match began with a bang as Shami Kibwana put Posta Rangers ahead in the 3rd minute. However, Kenya Police responded quickly when Brian Okoth scored a well-placed header past Posta goalkeeper Kelvin Opiyo, leveling the score at 1-1 by halftime.

The second half saw Kenya Police take the lead in the 65th minute, with substitute Alfred Leku, who replaced Clinton Kinanga, netting his first goal of the season. But Posta Rangers were quick to respond; just two minutes later, Oliver Maloba equalized, making it 2-2.

After several attempts from both sides to secure a winner, Kenya Police finally broke the deadlock in the dying moments of the match. In the 90+4 minute, Marvin Nabwire’s last-gasp strike clinched a dramatic 3-2 victory for Police.

This win marked Kenya Police’s seventh of the season and propelled them to third place in the FKF Premier League standings with 27 points, now level with second-placed KCB FC. Posta Rangers on their side remain at the bottom of the table with just 14 points following their defeat.
