Foolish people: Prophet Lovi defends TB Joshua after controversial documentary

interestNational News

US-based Kenyan prophet Lovy Elias staunchly defended the late Nigerian megachurch leader, widely known as TB Joshua.

His real name was Temitope Balogun Joshua.

The charismatic preacher was once the face of African evangelism.

He now faces a barrage of allegations ranging from misogyny to torture, sexual abuse, financial corruption, and large-scale cover-ups.

In the wake of revelations by former church members, employees, and even his daughter, TB Joshua’s reputation crumbled.

The BBC’s extensive investigation spanned three continents.

They exposed the dark underbelly of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (Scoan), a megachurch with global influence.

Despite being hailed as a spiritual leader, the late preacher stands accused of committing sexual crimes on a staggering scale.

Unfortunately, even his demise in 2021 at the age of 57 did not shield him from the damning revelations of widespread abuse, torture, and cruelty spanning over two decades.

His daughter, Ajoke, bravely stepped forward, talking about her father’s brutal acts.

In hiding and shedding the “Joshua” surname, Ajoke disclosed the constant fear her father harboured, terrified that someone would expose his dark secrets.

Prophet Lovy Elias, however, cautioned against hastily accepting the damning accusations.

He urged Christians not to unquestioningly believe everything they watch or hear.

Emphasizing the imperfections inherent in all individuals.

The former Longombas singer asserted that Christian preachers worldwide are under targeted scrutiny.

Further suggesting the documentary’s release, two years post-TB Joshua’s passing, wasn’t coincidental.

Lovy’s warning

He issued a warning to fellow preachers revelling in TB Joshua’s downfall.

Moreover, cautioning that the media’s scrutiny could turn their way next, leaving them unsupported.

Highlighting a major red flag, Lovy pointed out that the late preacher couldn’t defend himself, urging people not to rush to judgment based solely on one side of the story.

He urged the need for a balanced perspective and reminded everyone that perfection is an unattainable ideal.
