Football star Collins Okoth alias Gatusso returns to court over murder allegations

Two weeks ago, Gatusso and his co-accused, Sylvia Aoko, were charged with the murder of three-year-old Pamela Atieno, also known as Scovian Maya.

The crime allegedly occurred during the night of April 21 and into the morning of April 22 at Kwetu Apartments in Sinai, Lucky Summer estate, Nairobi.

The two pleaded not guilty to the murder of three-year-old Pamela Atieno, before Justice Esther Maina at the Milimani Law Courts.

Gatusso’s lawyer, Geoffrey Omenke, informed the court that he had filed an application requesting his client’s release on bond, which had already been served to the state.

However, state prosecutor Ms. Gichuhi opposed the release, stating they would submit an affidavit against the bond request.

She also requested that a pre-bail report be presented to the court before the bond issue is addressed.

Lawyer Kamau Waweru, representing Sylvia Aoko, indicated that he would file a bond application for his client after the pre-bail report is submitted.

Justice Maina instructed all parties to file and serve their affidavits within seven days. The bond hearing is set to be mentioned before Justice Alexander Muteti on September 25, 2024 before Justice Muteti.

Report filed against Gatusso

A report filed at Lucky Summer Police Station by Lucky Summer Assistant Chief Peris Muthoni said that the child was murdered and dumped outside her mother’s house.

When police visited the scene, they established that she had bruises on her neck and she was half-naked.

The court was also told that Gattuso tried to flee the scene after the incident.

“The respondent (Gattuso) packed some of his belongings in the house and was prepared to vacate from the house.

On 22,4,2024, at around 6 am Gattuso left his house while carrying some clothes with a nylon paper and he came back hours later preparing to vacate the house,” an affidavit reads in part.
