OGC Nice midfielder Alexis Beka Beka threatened to jump off a bridge in Nice, France, following a romantic breakup, as reported by Marca.
The incident unfolded when Beka Beka pulled over by the side of the road and stood on the Magnan bridge, contemplating such a drastic action.
Efforts to address the situation included the presence of a club psychologist on-site and the involvement of emergency services, firefighters, and military personnel.
In response to this crisis, Nice made the decision to cancel their scheduled media activities, including a planned press conference, and instead convened crisis talks behind closed doors.
Reports indicated that the incident caused a significant traffic jam spanning 6 kilometers, leading to restrictions on this vital route.
French news outlet RMC Sport later reported that firefighters successfully ensured the safety of the footballer following several hours of negotiations.
While reports suggested that the young player’s distress was linked to a romantic breakup, his representatives denied this connection.
His agent stated, “The stories about the romantic break-up are false. This has nothing to do with it and is out of context.”

In his pre-match press conference, Brest manager Eric Roy expressed his support for OGC Nice in light of the events, saying, “I am hoping that it ends as well as possible. My heart goes out to them.”
The 22-year-old footballer joined OGC Nice in 2022 from Lokomotiv Moscow in a €12 million transfer but has not seen playing time in the current season.
