A form four student from Isebania Secondary school in Kuria West Sub County, was among the two people killed in Migori County during anti-government protests on Tuesday July 2, 2024.
Antony Macharia, a 17-year-old, tragically lost his life during the anti-government protest in Isebania town, Kuria West Sub-County.
According to the family, Antony had ventured into town to purchase personal school supplies when he was fatally shot.
His mother, Miriam Patrick, recounted that Antony, who was on half-term break and due to resume school on July 3rd, 2024, had left home to buy sugar when he encountered the fatal incident.
Miriam emphasized that her son was not involved in the anti-government protest in Isebania town, insisting that he was an obedient son and student at school.
The shooting of Antony has sparked outrage among residents of Isebania, who have criticized the police for their actions and called on the government to expedite the investigations.
Similarly, during the anti- government demonstration on July 2nd, a middle-aged man from Rongo Sub-County was also fatally shot by police, further intensifying public concern.
