Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has responded to Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah who alleged that he is the one orchestrating abductions.
“I have seen William Ruto’s protégé saying I am the one abducting people after the President accepted there are abductions.”
“Can you respect the people of Kenya, the people of Kenya are very intelligent and you people are running out of lies,” added the former second in command.
Gachagua was speaking at a funeral service in Embu on Friday. He warned leaders who hail from the Mount Kenya region to stop acting gullible as they will have their voters to deal with.
He also thanked the church specifically the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) for speaking on behalf of Kenyans to protest the move from NHIF to SHIF.
“A time like this when everyone has been silenced, it is only the church that can speak for us. We ask of you the Archbishop of the ACK church to continue speaking for the people of Kenya.”
Kimani Ichung’wah on abductions
National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has ignited a political storm after accusing former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of being behind the rising cases of abductions in the country.
Ichung’wah made the claims on Friday January 3, 2025 during the burial of Moses Wetang’ula’s mother in Kabuchai, Bungoma County.
Addressing mourners at the ceremony, Ichung’wah alleged that Gachagua orchestrated the abductions, adding a new layer of tension to the already strained political relationship between the two leaders.
“Gachagua was the orchestrator of abductions so that he could blame President Ruto,” Ichung’wah said.
His remarks come in the wake of Gachagua’s public criticism of President William Ruto, where he appeared to link the Head of State to the same issue.
