Four charged with forging academic certificates to secure g

Four suspects who used forged academic credentials to acquire government jobs were yesterday, Monday 4 arraigned at the Eldoret Law Courts.

The suspects; Bethwel Kipkoech, Celestine Cherop Chepsou, Eddah Cheptanui Boit, and Jackson Kipkosgei had acquired public service jobs at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.

According to a report made by the DCI, The four were charged with forgery of academic certificates, making false documents, uttering false documents, and fraudulent acquisition of public property.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges and were released on a cash bail of Ksh. 100,000 or a bond of Ksh. 300,000.

In another similar case, one Joash Kimurgor Kirwa who was wanted for the offence of forgery of Academic Certificates was arrested on Monday at Waitaluk location within Trans Nzoia county.

He was later arraigned at Eldoret Law Courts in whose jurisdiction he was recruited, where five counts of forgery were preferred against him.

He also pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on Ksh 200.00 cash bail, with the mention for pre-trial scheduled for February 26.2024.

The ongoing crackdown on fraudulence within the public service comes two days after the Public Service Commission handed over a report bearing 1,280 cases of forged certificates from 91 public institutions and 787 from ministries, State department, and agencies to the DCI and EACC for action.
