Four people die in road crash involving West Pokot County vehicle in Uganda

Four people have lost their lives after being involved in a road accident at Tapaach along the Moroto- Napak road in Uganda. The four victims were in a vehicle belonging to the West Pokot County government during the accident.

The identities of the victims have not yet been officially released, pending notification of their families.

However, sources indicate that two of the deceased were seasoned politicians—one had contested for the Kapenguria MP seat in the 2022 elections, while the other had vied for an MCA position.

Confirming the incident,  West Pokot County Commissioner Khaliff Abdullahi  said investigations are underway to establish the cause of the accident.

“The matter is being looked into, and we will provide further details once we establish what happened,” Abdullahi said.

The accident, which involved a West Pokot County Government vehicle, occurred under unclear circumstances. Authorities are yet to determine the exact cause of the crash.

Authorities in both Kenya and Uganda coordinated the repatriation of the bodies, which have since been taken to Cherangany Mortuary in Kitale.

The team had been in Uganda accompanying Pokot South MP David Pkosing on a 10-day development tour in the neighboring country.
