Four (4) people are feared dead after a gold mine they were working at in Kuria West, Migori County, caved in on Saturday, December 16.
Confirming the incident, Masaba Ward MCA Clarkson Mwita said the four were buried alive when the gold mine in Kurutiyange area collapsed.
The area MCA says that the walls of the gold mine were weakened due to the heavy rainfall the area is currently receiving.
One body has been recovered.
At the time of going to press, rescue efforts had been hampered by water filling the gold mine. the process of pumping the water out is ongoing.
