Former UFC champion Francis Ngannou has admitted that he has no memory of getting up from his stool for the second round of his bout with boxing heavyweight Anthony Joshua staged last Friday in Saudi Arabia.
Ngannou made this concerning revelation during his first interview since the fight.
Joshua took his opponent flying to the ground after delivering a heavy blow to his face, leading to the Brit winning the match via a Knock Out.
Anthony Joshua floored former UFC heavyweight champion three times during the match bringing him closer to a potential match with Tyson Fury.
However, despite the loss, Ngannou said he has no plans to leave boxing after suffering the heavy defeat.
“My memory and my vision kept going. I don’t remember when I came back from the stool to go to the second round. From the stool, in between rounds, I wasn’t there anymore. Some days are just not your day and you can’t explain what happened. It was quite weird.” Stated The 37-year-old MMA fighter while speaking During the MMA hour interview.
British fighter Joshua, 34, produced a destructive performance against Ngannou, who four months ago took WBC champion Tyson Fury 10 rounds in a narrow defeat.
The prospective prize had featured prominently throughout the build-up in Saudi Arabia, with victory now expected to pave the way to a shot at the winner of Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk’s clash for the undisputed heavyweight championship.
However, Ngannou has explained he has no regrets about the fight. He also insists that he had done all he could to prepare for the former two-time world champion.
The Octagon veteran even defended his decision to turn southpaw during the fight – a switch that left him more susceptible to Joshua’s trademark right hand.
