Frustrated Ronaldo throws tantrum after being denied penalty

Portugal’s captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, was visibly frustrated after being substituted in his side’s shocking 2-0 defeat to Georgia. The Al-Nassr forward, who set another unique record, has failed to score at Euro 2024 after three games for the Selecao.

This defeat raises questions about the team’s form and Ronaldo’s ability to make an impact in the later stages of the tournament.

The 39-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo, who made history as the first player to reach 50 appearances in major international tournaments, failed to score for the third consecutive game at Euro 2024.

The 2016 champions faced an early shock when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring just two minutes in, pouncing on a precise through ball from Georges Mikautadze.

Ronaldo’s attempts to equalise included a powerful freekick in the 17th minute, which was expertly saved by Giorgi Mamardashvili.

His frustrations grew when his appeals for a penalty, after appearing to have his shirt pulled, were ignored.

CR7’s intense protests led to a yellow card, and his dissatisfaction with the officiating was evident as he continued to express his displeasure at halftime,

In the second half, the Al-Nassr forward came close to scoring with a deflected close-range effort that resulted in a corner. This would be his best opportunity before coach Roberto Martinez substituted him.

Clearly frustrated with his performance and the outcome, Ronaldo showed his discontent by making a kicking gesture as he headed to the Portuguese bench.

Portugal’s unexpected loss to Georgia underscored a disappointing night for Ronaldo, who was visibly unhappy with both his individual performance and the team’s overall display.
