Manchester United’s recent resurgence was brought to a halt on Saturday afternoon as they were served a 2-1 beating by the enterprising Fulham in a Premier League match at Old Trafford.
Harry Maguire scored a dramatic late equalizer in the 89th minute, seemingly rescuing Manchester United a point. However, Alex Iwobi shattered their hopes with a 97th-minute winner, securing a breathtaking victory for Fulham.
Manchester United, entering the match on a four-game winning streak, appeared poised for disappointment when Calvin Bassey put Fulham ahead after 65 minutes.

In the reverse fixture earlier in the season, United had also left it late to secure victory, with Bruno Fernandes netting a last-minute winner.
Despite an open but goalless first half, both teams hitting the woodwork, it was Fulham who broke the deadlock through Bassey.
Missing several senior players, Manchester United’s recent results had remained impressive. However, the absence of Rasmus Hojlund during the week deprived them of a focal point, and they struggled for chunks of the game.

Maguire’s late goal initially seemed to salvage a point, but ultimately fell short. United’s next league game is away to local rivals Manchester City on Sunday, March 3, 2024.
Their first leg encounter which was at Old Trafford ended 3-0 in favour of the defending champions. But before the Manchester Derby, they have a midweek FA Cup meeting with Nottingham Forest.
