Tottenham Hotspur’s James Maddison is among the seven players dropped from the 26-man England squad for Euro 2024, as announced by Gareth Southgate.
In a fit of rage, the Spurs midfielder removed “England” from his Instagram bio.
The 27-year-old Maddison has earned seven senior caps for England and was part of Southgate’s lineup for the 2022 World Cup, although he did not make an appearance in Qatar.
He was initially called up to Southgate’s provisional 33-man squad and even featured in England’s friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Monday, coming off the bench in the 3-0 win at St James’ Park.
A day after the Three Lions’ friendly against Iceland at Wembley. The latest unconfirmed reports suggest that Curtis Jones will also miss out on the final squad.
England begin their Euro 2024 campaign on June 16 against Serbia and Maddison’s wait for a major tournament appearance with England goes on.
