Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has blamed the Kenya Kwanza government after chaos erupted in an event hosted by his wife Dorcas Rigathi on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
During a prayer event that was being hosted by Pastor Dorcas in Nyeri on Saturday, Maina Njenga, accompanied by youth, stormed in and disrupted the event.
Dorcas and Nyeri Deputy Governor David Wairui had to vacate the event using the back exit for their own safety.
The prayer event was taking place at the Kamukunji Grounds in Nyeri, where Dorcus was scheduled as the main preacher of the day.
Shortly after the event was disrupted, Gachagua criticised President Ruto’s administration for sending Njenga to frustrate his wife.
“Unleashing the leader of an outlawed criminal gang and his goons to disrupt peaceful prayers and desecrate the altar is the lowest any Government can go no matter the level of desperation,” Gachagua noted in a statement posted on X.
Immediately after Dorcas left, Njenga went to the tent where she was seated and took her place.
Gachagua and Njenga have been clashing at public events as political analysts claim that Maina Njenga is being used by government to neutralize Gachagua’s popularity in Central Kenya.
Speaking at the event, Njenga advised Gachagua to stop ethnic politics and instead promote unity in the country.
“Let’s not be prophesying the politics of Mt Kenya all the time. Let us unite as a nation because Kenya belongs to all of us,” Njenga advised.
