Gachagua speaks after Uhuru-Ruto meeting

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has downplayed President William Ruto’s meeting with former President Uhuru Kenyatta, Ruto terming their discussion as private talks.

Speaking during an Interview with Inooro TV at his rural home in Nyeri County on Sunday December 15, 2024 in the evening, Gachagua said the meeting between the two leaders has no significance in the current political situation in the country.

According to the former deputy president, Uhuru’s meeting with Ruto may not have an impact on the people in the Mount Kenya region.

“The way I know our people, even our former President Uhuru knows, our people cannot be told where to go. It is them that tells leaders where to go,” Gachagua said during the interview.

“If the president went to ask for forgiveness from Uhuru, there is no problem with that. About what they talked about, since I was not there, I cannot say it concerns the people of Mt Kenya,” he added.
