Gachagua: There is no need to read too much into the President’s cabinet reshuffle

Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua has finally broken silence on the recent cabinet reshuffle by President William Ruto.

Taking to his X account on Friday, DP Gachagua stated that people should not read too much into the president’s reshuffle.

“It is the prerogative of the President to organize and reorganize his team. President William Ruto just reorganized his team for effective delivery of the services,”

The DP insisted that no Cabinet Secretary was “demoted” contrary to public opinion.

“There is no one who was removed from office. There is no need to read too much into the President’s reshuffle.”

He urged those who were affected by the changes to carry out their duties so effectively for Kenyans to appreciate their reassignments.

“I kindly ask those who were given new mandates to work with diligence and commitment and ensure that their work is visible to the public.”

President Ruto made changes in his cabinet one year into office.

Affected Ministries

The Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, held by Musalia Mudavadi, was expanded to include the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

Alfred Mutua, who held the position before was moved to the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.

Trade and Investments Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria was reassigned to the newly reconstituted Ministry of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management.

Rebecca Miano replaced Kuria at the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry.

Consequently, Peninah Malonza was tasked with the Ministry of East African Community, the ASALs, and Regional Development.

Rebecca Miano, who served as Cabinet Secretary for the East African Community, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands and Regional Development of Kenya, was reassigned to the Trade docket.

Moses Kuria reacts to cabinet reshuffle

Moses Kuria, who was speaking for the first time since he was moved to the Public Service Ministry, asserted that he would carry out his duties diligently.

“I want to assure Kenyans the same energy and vigor that used to execute my mandate in the Ministry of Trade is the same one I will use to carry out my new mandate on performance and delivery,” he added.

He maintained that he left the trade docket a very proud man for the milestones he had achieved one year into office.

“I have started uplifting our export and industry. Our manufacturing industry has started showing signs of impairment. In one year, a third of Kenya counties are already industrializing.”
