Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is set to address the nation today (Monday, October 7) evening at his official residence in Karen, Nairobi.
Gachagua’s office has invited media houses to cover the press conference that will start a 7 pm.
The presser will come hours before Tuesday’s National Assembly debate on Gachagua’s impeachment motion.
On Tuesday, Gachagua will be expected to appear before Parliament — either in person or send legal representation — to defend himself against the 11 grounds of impeachment listed in the motion tabled by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse.
Among the grounds of impeachment include; dividing Kenyans on ethnic lines, corruption (amassing KSh5.2 billion unexplained assets), undermining the presidency, inciting the public against Nairobi County Government, violating the oath of office and contradicting the National Cohesion and Integration Act.
