A 15-year-old girl was fatally stabbed in a toilet by a known assailant who fled the scene in Torabora Village, Ijara, Garissa County.
The attacker is reported to have followed the girl to the toilet, where he stabbed her in the head and chest, killing her.
Police stated that the motive for the January 14, 2025 incident is still unclear. The victim was a distant relative of the assailant.
Locals reported hearing screams from the toilet around 3 p.m. and, upon arriving, they found the girl’s lifeless body in a pool of blood.
She had sustained five deep stab wounds on the left side of her chest as she was rushed to Ijara Level Four Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The assailant escaped immediately after the attack, and efforts to locate him are ongoing.
Police have not recovered the weapon used in the attack, and the body was moved to a local mortuary pending autopsy and further investigation.
