The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has, today, arrested Mr Dolal Mohamed Mohamud, the Managing Director, of Garissa Water and Sewage Company (GAWASCO) who forged his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Certificate to secure University admission for a University Degree.
The Commission established, through investigations, that the suspect genuinely got a mean grade of D in his KCSE but altered it to C+ in order to meet the requirements for further studies.
Using the forged Certificate, he successfully Diploma in Public Relations and a Certificate in Purchasing and Supplies at the University of Nairobi, and subsequently a Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies at Mt. Kenya University.
Mr. Mohamud, has risen through the ranks from the position of Billing Clerk at GAWASCO to become the Agency’s Managing Director.
In addition to the criminal prosecution, the Commission will move to Court to recover all the cumulative total of Kes. 12,987,290 in salaries and benefits that he has earned since 2015 on the basis of invalid academic qualifications acquired on the basis of a fake KCSE Certificate
The arrest came after the Director of public Prosecutions (DPP) concurred with recommendations of EACC to charge the suspect with the following offences: Fraudulent acquisition of public funds to wit salary of approximately Kes. 12,987,290, Forgery of Academic Certificates and Uttering a false document.
The suspect was apprehended from his offices in Garissa and escorted to Garissa Police Station where he has been locked up pending arraignment before the Garissa Anti-Corruption Court, tomorrow, Friday, 26 January, 2024, 9:00am.
