Former Barcelona and Manchester United player Gerard Pique has shared his opinion on who deserves the title of the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) between Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
Having shared a locker room with both Messi and Ronaldo during his playing career, Pique told John Nellis during an interview on his YouTube channel that the decade-long rivalry has been beneficial for both players.
He stated that both Ronaldo and Messi were impressive and had incredible careers.
However, Pique believes that Messi outshines Ronaldo, agreeing with the consensus that the Argentine forward is the GOAT, especially after winning the 2022 World Cup.
“I think that in terms of talent, Messi is number one, for sure. Cristiano has indeed worked very hard to try and compete and fight for that top spot, but if you look at the careers of both… I would choose Messi, for sure,” stated Gerard Pique.
“He showed that even though he’s 35 he can compete as the best player in the world. He showed it in the World Cup.” He added.
