A 13-year-old girl from Kitui County lost her life on Monday night in a hit and run accident.
Reports indicate that the teenager was hit by a speeding vehicle Ndandi village, Kisasi, Kitui County. She allegedly died on the spot.
Another, victim, a 23-year-old woman was also hit by the vehicle but survived with serious injuries.
Masimbini sub-chief Mulu Kalu, confirmed the incident, stating that the survivor was a sister to the deceased.
Rushed to Kitui County Hospital
She was rushed to Kitui Level 4 Hospital for treatment while the deceased’s body was transferred to the hospital’s morgue.
“The car sped off and unfortunately, no one was around to take down its registration details,” Kalu added.
The tragic incident occurred along the Kibwezi-Kitui road. The speeding car was enroute to Kitui from Mutomo.
In yet another occurrence, four people lost their lives on Tuesday morning after a lorry killed them in Bulemia village, Budalangi, Busia County.
According to the police, the lorry lost control and veered off the Mundere Port Victoria road, killing the four on the spot.
