Mang’u High School has once again cemented its reputation as a center of academic excellence, leading the pack in the recently concluded 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
The prestigious institution, alongside other top-performing schools in Thika, showcased stellar results, with students attaining impressive grades that have placed the region among the best in the country.
According to Mang’u High School Chief Principal John Kuria, the school’s mean score improved from 9.4 to 10.01, translating to a mean grade of B+. The school had 107 A plain and 164 A Minus,114 B+ among other grades.
Immanuel Kiptoo, one of the best performers, attributed the improved performance to dedication.
Thika High School, an extra-county school in Kiambu, achieved a mean score of 7.7 points, with 355 out of 463 students qualifying for university admission.
The school’s Chief Principal, Julius Muraya, called on well-wishers to assist in settling a financial burden of KSh1.9 million left by the recently graduated Form Four students.
Celebrations at Chania Girls
At MP Shah Chania Girls High School in Thika, celebrations were equally jubilant. Bijou Vemba, who previously scored a C- and was allowed to repeat at the school, scored an impressive A of 84 points.
The school had 1 straight A, 14 A minus and a Mean Score of 7.376. Chief principal Lilian Wambui Muhuni noted that out of 364 students who sat for last year’s exams, 242 students will be joining university which translates to 66.44% transition rate to university.
She also called on the government to address the new funding model to ensure that students joining universities can access the financial support they need to pursue courses of their choice.
