Githurai: Man stabs daughter, 16, to death, injures wife before fleeing, leaving 3-year-old son unharmed

Police in Mwihoko, Githurai Sub-County, in Kiambu County are looking for a 45-year-old man who stabbed his daughter to death and injured his wife.

It is reported that Elius Jacob Katanga, who had left his home in Mwihoko township following domestic differences with his wife, returned home to take his three-year-old son.

After his wife, identified as Teresia Wairimu, 45, opened the door, Katanga is said to have grabbed their son and said he was leaving with him.

“The wife tried to resist and the husband (suspect) took a kitchen knife and stabbed her on her head and then turned on their daughter aged 16 who was screaming for help and stabbed her on the back,” a report filed by the landlord of the rented house at Mwihoko Police Station on Sunday, December 29 reads in part.

After committing the deeds, the man fled leaving behind the suspected murder weapon, a kitchen knife, and an unharmed son.

Neighbours rushed the victims to Ruiru Sub-County Hospital where the daughter was pronounced dead on arrival, while the mother was admitted and is undergoing treatment in serious but stable condition at the same facility.

The body of the deceased has been processed and removed to Thika Level 5 Hospital morgue pending an autopsy.
