Godhana, Kang’ata and Arati ranked most performing governors in new survey

Tana River Governor Dhadho Godhana has been ranked as the most performing county boss in the country, according to a new survey by Kenya Track.

The survey, conducted between November 1 to November 10, says that Governor Godhana enjoys an approval rating of 82.2%.

The poll interviewed a total of 19,701 respondents (who are registered voters) across the 47 counties in the country, with each devolved unit getting a number that is proportionate to its voter population.

Some of the projects the people of Tana River felt were impactful to rate the governor highly include; irrigation scheme to enhance agricultural development, employing teachers and ensuring necessary
learning materials are available, facilitating the development of ECDE Centres, and facilitating the youth with sports equipment.

Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata comes second with an approval rating of 81.6%.

Distribution of assorted seeds, beehives and honey processing machines in the county, and healthcare initiatives such as digitisation of health records and Kangatacare recruitment, are some of the projects that have endeared Kang’ata to the people of Murang’a.

Kisii’s Simba Arati has been ranked third in the survey, with an approval rating of 80.6%. Upgrading and rehabilitation of health facilities in the counties, distribution of assorted fruit seedlings to schools in the county, engagement in public foras with community leaders in the county, distribution of equipment such as professional sewing machines, partnering to aid in the lives of persons living with disability, and rehabilitation of rural county roads enhancing accessibility are some of the notable projects Kisii people are noticing.

Trans Nzoia’s George Natembeya (79.5%), Kirinyaga’s Anne Waiguru (79.2%), Makueni’s Mutula Kilonzo Jr (78.7%), Mandera’s Mohammed Adan (78.4%), Kiambu’s Kimani Wamatangi (77.7%), Homa Bay’s Gladys Wanga (77.3%), and Kisumu’s Peter Anyang Nyong’o (76.9%) round up the top 10 most performing governors.

The survey employed the mode of telephonic interviews at the household level for data collection, with random, multi-stage stratified sampling using proportionate to population size as the respondents sampling methodology.
