Gor Mahia Coach Mihic resolves internal rift with technical bench

Gor Mahia head coach Sinisa Mihic has confirmed that he has resolved recent internal disputes with his technical bench following weeks of tension within the club.

The Croatian tactician, who was appointed in February, revealed that open discussions with both his staff and players have helped the team refocus ahead of a crucial run of fixtures.

“We discussed those things with the technical bench and the players and we go tomorrow again…in training and in our match (against Talanta). We are strong…we believe in ourselves and I believe we will achieve everything we want,” Mihic stated, signaling a renewed sense of unity within the camp.

The reconciliation comes after Mihic was seen storming out of Dandora Stadium in frustration during Gor Mahia’s 1-1 draw with Sofapaka, a match for which he was banned from the touchline following an earlier red card.

Reports indicated that Mihic was dissatisfied with the substitutions made by his assistants during his absence, exacerbating existing tensions. The coach later explained his actions as an emotional response to the pressure and stress of the moment, emphasizing his commitment to the team’s success.

Earlier this month, Mihic reportedly took the drastic step of dismissing three members of his technical bench—assistants Zedekiah Otieno and Michael Nam, and team manager Victor Nyaoro—following disagreements over team selection and alleged sabotage.

The dispute centered on the inclusion of certain foreign players, a point of contention between Mihic and his assistants1.

Despite these off-field challenges, Gor Mahia remain firmly in the title race. The defending champions are currently third in the FKF Premier League standings with 48 points, trailing leaders Tusker FC by three points and second-placed Kenya Police by one.

Mihic’s side faces Talanta next in a rescheduled league tie, with an opportunity to reclaim top spot as the season enters its decisive phase.

With internal issues now addressed, Mihic and Gor Mahia will look to channel their focus and cohesion into maintaining their championship ambitions.
