Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has reaffirmed the Kenyan government’s commitment to motorsport development by emphasizing efforts in infrastructure, policy-making, and financial backing to ensure the sustainable growth of the sport.
Speaking on Monday during the 2025 WRC Safari Rally sponsorship launch, where Toyota Mobility Kenya announced a KSh 33 million investment, CS Mvurya praised Toyota CFAO Mobility Kenya’s continued support:
“This commitment is more than just sponsorship—it’s an investment in our motorsport ecosystem, talent pipeline, and the Safari Rally’s global prestige.”

Boosting Local Participation in Motorsport
To encourage local and regional drivers, CS Mvurya directed the WRC Safari Rally office to facilitate free entry for competitors in the National Class, aligning with the Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC).
Strengthening Kenya’s Sporting Economy
Sports Principal Secretary, Eng. Peter Tum, highlighted the economic impact of motorsport, calling the investment a game-changer:
“This investment cements Kenya’s place in the global sporting arena and creates opportunities beyond the track. Alone, we can go fast—but together, we can go far.”
