Kenya’s Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Korir Sing’oei, has engaged in diplomatic discussions with Vietnam regarding the case of Margaret Nduta, a Kenyan national facing execution.
In a telephone conversation with Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nguyen Minh Hang, Dr. Sing’oei conveyed the deep concern of the Kenyan people over Nduta’s fate. He urged Vietnam to grant a stay of execution, allowing both nations to explore alternative resolutions.
‘’I reiterated our request for a stay of execution to enable our two countries to find a path toward resolving the issue,’’ Dr. Sing’oei stated.
The Vietnamese government has acknowledged Kenya’s petition, with Deputy Minister Hang assuring that the request is under consideration by the relevant authorities. Meanwhile, Kenya’s diplomatic mission in Bangkok is closely monitoring the case.
Nduta’s situation has drawn significant attention, with calls for diplomatic intervention growing louder. While details surrounding her legal proceedings remain unclear, the Kenyan government is actively seeking ways to prevent the execution and secure a favorable outcome.
The case underscores the complexities of international legal frameworks and the importance of diplomatic dialogue in addressing sensitive consular matters. Kenya continues to push for a resolution that aligns with humanitarian considerations and justice.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Kenyan citizens abroad and remains engaged in efforts to resolve the matter through diplomatic channels.
