Government invites Kenyans to buy affordable houses in Nakuru

Kenyans can now access the government’s affordable housing units in Nakuru Bondeni area.

This is according to a notice by The Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development on 9th January 2023.

”Interested members of the public are hereby invited to purchase ready units at the affordable housing project in Bondeni, Nakuru,” reads the notice.

The project comprises a total of 605 units, consisting of 45 one-bedroom units, 180 two-bedroom units, and 380 three-bedroom units.

Applicants must channel all submissions through www.bomayangu.go.ke and pay 10% to qualify for purchase.

2-bedroom units measuring 64 square units has been priced at Ksh.3.15 million whereas 3-bedroom units spanning 85 square meters at Ksh.4.25 million.

Those qualified will receive offers for rent-to-own home loans with a monthly rate of Sh16,997 for a two-bedroom unit and Sh22,933 for a three-bedroom unit.

However, Kenyans have took to social media to praise the government’s completion of Bondeni units.

Whereas many pose questions as to whether the price is affordable to the common mwananchi.

The affordable housing project has seen to be facing many challenges with restrictions on and off from the Court.

For the 2023-24 financial year, the government allocated Sh35.2 billion to the Housing program.

However, On 5th January, the high court lifted the order that restricted the government from collecting the housing levy.

Nevertheless, the President has vowed to continue with the project as he claims it creates millions of job opportunities.

Currently the president is overseeing the laying of foundation stone for Kapsuswa affordable housing project, Uasin Gishu County.
