Governor Gideon Mung’aro should take over from Joho – Kilifi ODM delegates

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) delegates in Malindi Sub-County are vouching for Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro to be the next Deputy Party leader.

This is after the immediate deputy party leader and former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho was nominated to Cabinet by President William Ruto.

Led by ODM Women League coordinator Mrs Catherine Dzame and the party youth league coordinator Mohamed Abanur, the delegates said that Mung’aro was a shrewd grassroot mobilizer who will steer the orange party to more popularity in the coastal region and hence he should be made the deputy party leader.

The vacant position is also being salivated by Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sherrif Nassir who has received backing from some leaders in the region.

“We also need to celebrate as Kilifi people and we will do that if baba Raila Odinga you give our governor Gideon Mung’aro the chance to be ODM deputy party leader and he has the capacity to deliver and expand the tentacles of the party in the region and beyond,” said Mrs Dzame.

Mr Abanur said that Kilifi County was the main ODM stronghold in the coast region followed by Mombasa, Kwale, Tana River, Taita Taveta and Lamu and it will be good if it produces the next deputy party leader since Mombasa had already had one in Joho.

“We thank our party leader for allowing Joho to serve in Ruto’s cabinet and we want Mung’aro to take the deputy party leader position that is currently vacant because Kilifi is the main stronghold of the party,” he said.
