Governor Wamatangi demands apologu from Tatu City Management

Kiambu County Governor Kimani Wamatangi has demanded Tatu City Chief Operating Officer Preston Mendenhall to publicly tender an apology for defamation.

The county boss argues that Mendenhall’s accusations that he is delaying the approval of Tatu City’s revised development master plan misled the public with defamatory offensive statements against Physical and Land Use Planning act of 2019.

“The law mandates private developers allocate land for public facilities such as schools, hospitals, fire stations, recreational areas, police stations, playgrounds, and other public utilities. That is what we are demanding from Tatu City,” he asserted.

Speaking in Kiambu County headquarters, Wamatangi said the regulations mandate private developers to allocate 10% of the Land in development to public amenities where he termed the move by Mendenhall as politically instigated saying there’s a political power behind the released statement.

“The law mandates private developers allocate land for public facilities such as schools, hospitals, fire stations, recreational areas, police stations, playgrounds, and other public utilities. That is what we are demanding from Tatu City,” he asserted.

At the same time Wamatangi said it’s constitutional for Construction of Governor, Deputy Governor and County assembly Speaker residence that in return deprives them the housing allowances and construction of other social amenities thereby stating that his move to demand for the land is not for personal gain but for public ggain.

According to the statement released by Tatu City, Governor Wamatangi was demanding 40 acres of land which is equivalent to KSh4.3 billion.
