Retired teacher sexually assaults grade 3 pupil in Homa Bay

Police have launched a manhunt for a retired primary school teacher for sexually molesting a 7-year-old boy on February 14, 2024 in Rachuonyo, Homa Bay County.

The suspect allegedly lured the young boy, who is a grade 3 pupil as he was returning home from school.

According to eyewitnesses, the boy was lured with Ksh10 into the house of the retired teacher.

The man is a former primary school teacher in Kotolo Village. 

Speaking to journalists on February 15, Kakdhimu West area Chief Margaret Ager said the boy reached out to the authorities for assistance.

The chief noted that the boy reported the incident to Kayoo sub location chief shortly after it happened.

Initially, the boy had been silenced and told not to spread word of it to anyone. 

However, Margaret Ager took the boy to a nearby medical facility for medical screening.

According to the medical report, the boy was allegedly sodomized and was nursing anal injuries due to the penetration.

What the Police had to say

The local authorities have launched an investigation in pursuit of the retired teacher.

Police reported that this was not the first incident for the retired teacher to be reported for sexually molesting children.

Furthermore, it was established that he would go on to defile the boys, establishing a pattern to his tendencies.

Rachuonyo North Sub county Police Commander Lydia Partiyie confirmed the incident, adding that she will ensure justice for the victim.

The police commander also assured residents that the suspect will be arrested and charged in court.

Further engagements with Kayoo sub location assistant chief bore no fruits as he had no comments on the matter. 

The boy’s parents are demanding for the police to do their work and arrest the suspect for justice to prevail.
