Detectives are investigating a horrific incident where a Grade eight pupil fell to his death from a school building in Umoja, Nairobi County.
The deceased was a pupil at Joy Gardens Primary School in Tena-Umoja area.
Apparently, the boy’s body was recovered on the first floor of the seven-story boarding school building on Friday night.
Witnesses say the incident occurred on Friday, March 8 at around 7:30pm.
Investigating officers have since attained CCTV within the area to analyse the incident.
It is emerging that the case was classified as a murder inquiry after preliminary investigations revealed that the pupil bore wounds not related to the fall.
A postmortem scheduled at City Mortuary where his body was transferred is expected to unearth the real cause of death of the Grade 8 pupil.
The school’s headteacher, two directors and one teacher were arrested on Friday night for questioning on the tragic incident.
Buruburu sub-county police commander Francis Kamau noted that there were several inconsistent theories surrounding the fall hence need for deeper probe.
“They have given so many versions of what happened. For now, we are not able to ascertain who is telling the truth,” he added.
The police boss further indicated that the pupil had earlier in the day been interrogated by a teacher over an unknown issue.
This has also prompted an internal probe within the school as parents, pupils and school management seek answers.
