Grade four student takes own life in Migori

The Police in Awendo, Migori County are investigating the tragic death of a 12-year-old grade student whose body was found in a classroom at Sare Primary School.

According to the area chief, Paul Ogweno, the body of the grade four student was found hanging inside the classroom by his fellow students who reported the incident to the school administration.

The child’s mother said that their child had left home early in the morning without showing any problem.

Ogweno has urged parents to engage in regular conversations with their children to understand the challenges they may be facing.

He emphasized that some children might be dealing with mental health issues stemming from various factors, including family issues, and without the attention and emotional support from their parents, some children might resort to taking drastic actions like suicide.

The body of the deceased was transferred to the Rapcom Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy by the police.

Elsewhere, a family in Nakuru County is grieving the loss of their 11-year-old son who committed suicide in mysterious circumstances at their residence.

A sixth-grade student at Ndoroto Primary School was found hanging in one of the rooms by the parents.

The Village elder, Peterson Kuria, said they are yet to find out what happened before the boy took his life.

According to his parents, their child was supposed to report to school on Monday morning, and don’t understand the cause of his death because their child didn’t have any problem.

This incident happened one week after Naivasha’s security forces held a meeting in the area following death threats to the Chief of the area due to the ownership of the large Ng’ati farm.

The Police in Naivasha Sub-county are still probing the death of the student.
