Residents of Kamayonge village in Kamasengre East Sub-Location, Suba North Constituency, are living in fear following the discovery of a mutilated body of an unidentified woman near Kiare Hills.
The gruesome discovery, made early Wednesday, has raised serious security concerns in the area. The body, found in a horrifying state, was reportedly naked, placed upside down, with the left leg severed and the face deformed.
Investigators suspect the woman was murdered before her body was burnt with a car battery and dumped on the hill.
Sheila Odhiambo, a local human rights defender who arrived at the scene shortly after the body was discovered, described the condition of the remains as evidence of a brutal murder. “The body appeared fresh but mutilated, suggesting the woman may have been killed the previous night,” she stated.
This chilling incident has sparked renewed fears among villagers, particularly as it comes just one month after another unidentified woman’s body was found in the same location. In the earlier case, the victim had been burned with acid, a similarity that has led locals to suspect a possible pattern or serial crime.
Deputy County Commissioner Peter Mutiso confirmed the incident and assured residents that investigations are underway.
“We have engaged officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to thoroughly investigate these deaths and apprehend the perpetrators. We are also looking into whether there is a link between the two murders,” he said.
Residents are now calling for heightened security measures and swift action from authorities to ensure their safety. The discovery has left the community gripped by fear, with many demanding answers and justice for the victims.
As investigations continue, local leaders have urged calm, emphasizing the need for vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement.
