GSU officer arrested with bags of suspected bhang in Malindi

A General Service Unit (GSU) officer has been arrested in Malindi, Kilifi County, after he was found in possession of canabis sativa (bhang).

Abderehman Kassim Hussein was arrested by a multi-agency security team manning Sabaki Bridge vehicle checkpoint on Wednesday, June 5.

A report filed at Malindi Police Station says that the officers stopped a Toyota Probox (registration number KDD 253T) vehicles which had passengers heading to Lamu.

“Passengers were ordered to alight with their luggage for security check. Upon searching the luggage belonging to one Abderehman Kassim Hussein, five cello-taped packages of dry plant suspected to be cannabis sativa were recovered,” the police report reads in part.

The officers also recovered a certificate of appointment of service from Hussein’s luggage.

It was later established that the suspect is a police officer, attached to GSU, based at Minjila in Tana Delta.
