Haiti Prime Minister resigns as Kenya prepares deployment of officers

Embattled Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry has tendered his resignation, the Chair of the Caribbean community confirmed on Monday.

This leaves the top political seat vacant after Henry took over in 2021 following the assassination of the former president.

It appears that the decision was arrived at following a regional meeting among Caribbean leaders on political transition in the conflict-hit Haiti.

Henry is currently stranded in Puerto Rico after armed gangs who are running the country barricaded the country’s airport, blocking the former PM from landing.
