Harambee Stars assistant coach takes over Bandari FC

Bandari Football Club has announced that Ken Odhiambo, the assistant coach of Harambee Stars, will take charge of the team starting from the new Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF PL) season 2024/25. Odhiambo, returning for his third spell with the Dockers, will be assisted by John Baraza, who has been managing the team since Twahir Muhiddin was dismissed last season.

Jeremy Onyango, who has been serving as both the goalkeeper trainer and assistant to Baraza, will now focus solely on his role as the head coach in goalkeeping.

Tony Kibwana, CEO of Bandari, emphasized that these changes are pivotal in their pursuit of improved performance in the upcoming season set to kick off soon.

“As a team, we want to win the Premier League, the FKF Cup and also compete in the CAF competitions. It is on that basis that we bring on board coach Ken Odhiambo to lead the team on that front,” said Kibwana

“We believe that he is the most suitable candidate to do that task given his coaching pedigree. He is just from leading the national U23 team in COSAFA and is also the assistant coach of the national senior team. We could not have appointed a better person,” he added.

On his part, Odhiambo said that he was confident with the current Bandari FC playing unit adding that they can lift their first ever league title next season.

“Have been watching Bandari FC games, am impressed by the young lads and am sure if we work together as a team we will win major in Kenya and probably be among the best in Africa.”

“My first job is to make our players better and also change our way of play in regards of attaining our target”, Ken added.

Odhiambo’s appointment comes on the backdrop of a requirement that Premier League coaches should possess a CAF A license. John Baraza is a CAF B graduate.
