Kenya’s Harambee Stars have maintained its position in the latest FIFA ranking, staying at 108th place despite gaining 2.28 points. This follows their participation in the COSAFA Cup tournament held in South Africa, where their performance was mixed.
In the tournament, which contributes to the FIFA Rankings, Kenya won their opening game against Zambia but suffered losses to Comoros.
They concluded with a victory over Zimbabwe, yet this series of results led to Kenya being knocked out in the round of after a defeat to Comoros, thus missing out on the quarter-finals.
Currently, the Harambee Stars need just 1.11 points in the upcoming rankings to surpass Guatemala, who are positioned one place higher. In the CAF rankings, Kenya stands 25th, four places behind Uganda, a fellow CECAFA nation that dropped a place due to inactivity in the recent FIFA international window.
Meanwhile, Tanzania is edging closer to Kenya in the FIFA rankings, currently standing at 113th place and having gained a spot despite not participating in the last window.
At the top of the FIFA rankings, reigning world champions Argentina continue to hold the top position following their successful defense of the Copa America title, defeating Colombia in the final.
