England’s captain Harry Kane has subtly criticized his former team Tottenham Hotspur questioning the mentality at the North London club weeks after joining Bayern Munich.

Kane, who moved to Bayern for £100 million this summer claims that at Tottenham, it wasn’t considered a disaster if they went a few games without a win, a contrast to Bayern Munich’s relentless pursuit of victory.

“We wanted to win at Spurs, but if you went a couple of games without winning it wasn’t a disaster. At Bayern you have to win every game,” he said.

The Tottenham striking legend has made a promising start in Munich, scoring three goals in as many league matches. He emphasized that the expectation at Bayern is to win every game, regardless of the margin.

Reflecting on Bayern’s high standards, Kane noted that even after winning 3-1 and 4-0 in their first two games, there was still talk about room for improvement—a true sign of a top club mentality.

Having failed to win a major trophy at Tottenham despite becoming their all-time leading scorer, Kane joined Bayern Munich to chase silverware.

Bayern boasts an impressive domestic record in Germany, having clinched the Bundesliga title for the 11th consecutive season in May.

On Kane’s debut, Bayern suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat by Red Bull Leipzig in the German Cup, with Kane coming off the bench in the second half.

Meanwhile, Tottenham, who finished eighth last season and missed out on European competition, have adapted well after losing their star player.

They currently sit second in the league, behind champions Manchester City, going into the international break.

New signing James Maddison and star forward Son Heung-min have stepped up in the goal-scoring department since Kane’s departure.

Son even recorded a hat-trick in a 5-2 victory over Burnley last weekend.
